RTA offers free training for volunteer hospice workers
Comments 0 | Recommend 0RTA Hospice & Palliative Care will provide free training starting Sept. 15 for Yuma-area residents who would like to volunteer their time providing care and comfort for the terminally ill and their families.
The 30-hour volunteer training program will take place Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from noon to 5 p.m. through Sept. 26.
Hospice volunteers could be called on to provide companionship for terminally ill patients and their families or clerical support to the RTA staff.
The training program will provide volunteers with an understanding of the hospice philosophy and their roles as volunteers.
Volunteers must be 18 at the time of the training.
Seating is limited and registration is required for the training. For more information or to register, call RTA volunteer coordinator Lorene Richards at 344-6100.
Hospice also has a teen volunteer training program. The teen training will take place Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 344-6100 to sign up for teen training or e-mail lrichards@rtahospice.org.
