Did you know? NIE is here to help!
Did you know? Our Newspapers in Education website offers a variety of educational information for children, parents and teachers.
For example … Do your kids argue all day long? Maybe it's time to give them a civics lesson on the U.S. Supreme Court. On iCivics.org, you and your children can try out your ability to persuade in a real Supreme Court case. Whoever uses the strongest argument wins. This is a game targeted for older children, but some younger ones might really enjoy helping a parent or sibling prepare for facing off against another one.
For parents, there's a link to the Arizona Department of Education website, which offers a ton of information on a variety of topics.
One of my favorite pieces was a list of all the schools in Yuma County, with a link to the school and the school's report card. I found this to be really helpful when choosing a school for my daughter, who will start Kindergarten in the fall. It's a hard choice, and it was super helpful to have that tool at my fingertips.
There was also information about special education, English language learners and more – the website was very complete and useful.
