APS should provide complete information

Have you read the February 2013 issue of “Arizona Lifestyle,” an insert with your APS bill? I did and I was outraged! In it, APS is still touting the savings you will supposedly reap if you use CFL bulbs. However, nowhere did they mention that the amount of any savings will be reduced by their March 1st rate increase resulting from energy savings programs. No doubt the savings amounts quoted in the article do not factor in that rate increase!

In order to make informed decisions about whether or not to use expensive CFLs, consumers need complete information about all costs. APS did not provide that information in this issue of Arizona Lifestyle.

Did APS do anything substantive to cut costs as revenues from electricity sales declined? Or did they just seek a rate increase from the ACC?

As Clare Booth Luce said, “No good deed goes unpunished.” Our good deed (adopting energy savings programs) is being punished by APS and the ACC with higher rates.

Is having complete information too much to ask? I think not!
