Bullfrogs croak in California

ROHNERT PARK, CA - The Bullfrogs ended their first road trip of the season with a 15-7 loss to Sonoma County Wednesday at Rohnert Park Stadium.

The Bullfrogs (2-4 overall in the Western Baseball League) went 1-for-3 on the one-stop trip to northern California. The Crushers will follow the Bullfrogs back to Yuma for a three-game series starting on Friday.

Sonoma County scored early and often Wednesday, knocking in runs in all but one of its eight half-innings. Craig Johnson (1-1) took the loss, lasting only 2 . innings while giving up seven runs, all earned, on six hits and two walks.

Relievers Ernesto Perez and Adam Belicic didn't fare much better, giving up seven runs in four combined innings. Cesar Acosta blanked the Crushers in his 1 . innings.

Henry Calderon homered for the Bullfrogs and Jaeme Lael went 3-for-5 with two RBIs.Richy Leon went 3-for-5 with an RBI.

Rightfielder Carlos Adolfo hit two home runs for the Crushers. He went 3-for-5 with four RBIs. Three other Crushers had three hits.

Sonoma County broke a 1-1 game open in the second, scoring four runs in that inning, two in the third and three in the fourth.

The Bullfrogs got their first road win of the season Wednesday, defeating the Sonoma County Crushers, 6-2 to even their series at 1.

Marcel Longmire, starting for the second straight night at catcher, went 4-for-5 with an RBI to boost his average to .476. Richy Leon went 2-for-4 and Joe Kilburg 3-for-4 with two RBIs at the top of the order.

Melvin Pizarro (1-0) got the win, allowing one run and four hits in five innings. John Whitesides pitched two perfect innings of relief and Jeff Sexton worked a flawless ninth.
