Renee Michelle Israels
Renee Michelle Israels has recently become recognized as a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, a national leadership and honors organization, at the University of Arizona.

Israels, majoring in ecology and evolutionary biology, is the daughter of Scott and Susan Israels and the granddaughter of the late Richard and Dolores Muhlenpoh, all of Yuma.

Chelsea Nicole Israels was inducted into the Sigma Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Arizona Western College.

Israels, majoring in English, is a 2008 graduate of Cibola High School, plans on transferring to Arizona State University and receiving her degree in English/creative writing. She the daughter of Scott and Susan Israels and the granddaughter of the late Richard and Dolores Muhlenpoh, all of Yuma.

Brian Edward Snyder
U.S. Marine Corps Pvt. Brian Edward Snyder has graduated from Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego.

Snyder successfully completed 12 weeks of intensive basic training in military justice, uniform, general leadership, combat leadership, code of conduct, weapons, first aid and the Corps' history, traditions and core values.

After a 10-day leave, Snyder will report to Camp Pendleton for one-month military combat training. He is the son of Bill and Shari Snyder of Yuma.

Beth Norton
Beth Norton is a member of the Morningside College Mock Trial team that recently was ranked among the Purple Division Prestigious top 10 teams at the Loras College National Mock Trial Invitational in Dubuque, Iowa.

The daughter of Doug and Amanda Norton of Yuma, she is a 2009 graduate of Yuma Catholic High School.

Michael Hernandez
Michael Hernandez of Knights of Columbus Council 1229 in Flagstaff has earned the title of Sir Knight in the fourth degree. As a member of the council, he has been named knight of the month three times. Hernandez is just the second member in his council's 102-year history to earn the Shining Armor award.

Formerly of Yuma, Hernandez is the son of Dolores and Ruly Hernandez, grandson of Ruthy Hernandez, and the late Ruly Hernandez, Louis and Nellie Alvarez, all of Yuma.
