IVEY 60TH ANNIVERSARY
Sam and Ellen Ivey, of Moses Lake , Washington celebrated their 60 years of marriage together at a party hosted by their two daughters. It was held at “Memories R Forever” on August 29th , 2009. Amid the warmth of over 120 friends, they celebrated with some who had come from as far away as Orlando, Florida. Their two daughters had also traveled to be there: Aurora had flown up from Yuma , Arizona and Carol was there from Bellingham, Washington.
Sam and Ellen had known each other in high school, where she was a cheerleader and he was a band musician. Mrs. Ivey recalls that while still in her senior year, and with Mr. Ivey having now become a pilot, they did much of their courting in an airplane.
Since their marriage in Coldwater, Michigan, on August 28th of 1949, they have lived in San Jose and San Diego, California, as well as having spent 22 years in Yuma where Mr. Ivey was the National Advertising Manager for the local newspaper.
Following Mr. Ivey’s retirement in 1997, they moved to Bellingham, Washington before moving to Moses Lake, Washington in 1999.
Asked concerning their recipe for a successful marriage, both agreed: Laughter and patience solve a lot of problems.
