Yuma High wrestling preview
Last year: 16-20
Returning state placers: None. Both graduated.
Top returners: Senior Moises Orozco (112); senior Chris Peynado (152); junior Alberto Heras (145); sophomore Kyler Dorries (160); and senior Peter Franks (215).
Key newcomers: Junior Ivan Garcia (125) has some varsity experience; junior Richard Cabrera (189) and sophomore James Gomez (171) have limited varsity experience.
Criminals coach Jeff Welsing's comments: "We’ve had pretty good numbers. We have a lot of young kids - a lot of freshmen and sophomores. Only four seniors - three of which are four-year guys and only 10 juniors. We'll be all right. We'll be middle of the pack."
The lowdown: The Criminals are bunched with San Luis, Gila Ridge, Havasu and Kofa – all battling for second in the region. Yuma High will be solid in the lower and middle weights. If they get anything from their upper weights, Yuma High could easily be the second best in the region and win more duals than it loses.
