Yuma's Best 2012: Klein's Kustom Electric

Best Electrical Service

Klein’s Kustom Electric did the electrical work for the 3C Building at Arizona Western College, and before that it wired Yuma Catholic and Gila Ridge high schools in Yuma.

And if you want, Klein’s electricians will come out to your house to do a small-scale project such as installing a light switch.

"We’ll do anything," said Keith Boyd, who with his wife Kelly owns Klein’s. "There’s no such thing as a project that’s too small."

There also have been plenty of times Boyd or his electricians have gotten on the phone to give pointers to callers who were tackling wiring projects on their own. Boyd likes taking those calls, even if they may end up costing his business a job. After all, he’s making friends with people who may end up being future customers.

They’re clearly earning good will. Respondents in the Yuma Sun’s Yuma’s Best reader poll named Klein’s Kustom Electric as the area’s Best Electrical Service in 2012.

Keith Boyd said Klein’s formula for success is fairly simple.

Part of the formula are the 12 electricians the company employs. "Our guys are very good at what they do," he said.

Many are long-term employees of the company, he said, and all consider that they have a stake in Klein’s success.

"Our commitment to the community also has a lot to do with our success," said Boyd, who with his wife are involved in Rotary and Hospice of Yuma.

The company is also committed to customer service, he said.

"I believe in fairness — treating customers the way I would like to be treated, providing a good service at a good price."

Klein’s, located at 2093 W. 25th St., does electrical contracting work for both new construction and remodeling projects, as well as electrical maintenance and repair of homes and businesses. It serves customers throughout Yuma County.

Klein’s Kustom Electric was started 45 years ago by Jerry and Millie Klein, and Boyd had worked for the Kleins for eight years before he and his wife bought the company in 1998.

Boyd said one of the more unique and fun projects Klein’s Kustom Electric did recently was the wiring for Waylon’s Water World, the water park that opened at Z Fun Factory last summer.

"We’ve worked at probably just about every building in Yuma at one time or another," said Boyd.

Klein’s can be reached at 726-4373. Its website is www.kleinselectric.com.
