Kofa falls 9-0 in state opener

The Kofa softball team was shutout 9-0 by No. 2 Peoria-Centennial in the first round of the Class 5A Division II State Softball Playoffs Saturday at Centennial.
 
The No. 15 Kings were only able to get one hit off the pitching tandem of Gabby Cuciani and Mo Montemayor of Centennial.
 
Patricia Porter pitched the game for Kofa and threw two wild pitches, one of which led to a Centennial run. Madison Tracy got the Kings'' only hit.
 
The Kings will play No. 10 Phoenix-Skyline at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Phoenix in the losers bracket.
