AWBL starting winter league in Yuma
There will be a winter baseball league in Yuma.
Embark Holdings, Inc., the parent company to American West Baseball League, announced its first winter league on Wednesday.
The AWBL winter league will be played at Ray Kroc Complex starting Jan. 24.
“We are very pleased to provide this opportunity to players that they may have an opportunity to be scouted by Major League Baseball and other Professional Baseball Leagues throughout the U.S. and International community. Players will get contracts within the AWBL and other organizations, and that is the sole purpose for this winter league,” CEO Michael Cummings said.

YOUTH BASKETBALL
Wildcats top Magic
Marcos Tagaban and Jordan Rojano scored 12 points to lead the Wildcats over the Magic 55-31 Wednesday at the Joe Henry Optimist Center.
Diego Parra added 10 points for the Wildcats (4-4).
