Pledge made to each other

In a recent letter by Philip Taylor, he claims that “we have a moral problem, not a social-economic problem.” This is supposedly because we have strayed from God.

He goes on to say that, "'He' (God) is the one to whom the founders pledged their lives and fortunes." If anyone reads the Declaration of Independence they will see that it says "... and for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge 'to each other' our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor."

Taylor and others would benefit from reading what Thomas Jefferson had to say about the separation of church and state.
