Christmas – a light show
Christmas is a season of lights.
You see homes beautifully decorated — lights around them, on them and in the yards. Yuma has excellent displays of light: Friendship Tower, light parade, Quartermaster Depot.
Our light show carries on what God did on the night Jesus was born, sleeping his first night on earth as a baby in a manger.
Shepherds were watching their flocks that night on the hills around Bethlehem. An angel appeared startling the shepherds. The angel said, “Don't be afraid,” announcing Jesus' birth. Suddenly a choir of angels joined saying, “Glory to God in the highest, there's hope and peace for this world.”
The light show inspired the startled shepherds to go into Bethlehem and see the Baby Jesus.
God's light show continued.
Wise Men from the East came saying, “We have seen HIS star in the east and have come to worship Him.” The quasar light brought them to the house where Jesus lived. Entering and bowing down, they worshipped, presenting gifts of gold, incense and myrrh.
Keep the light on. Brighten your environment with a smile. Extend a hand to a person that does not know the next step to take. Speak assurance to ears that have heard words of despair. Goodness demonstrated provides opportunity for “God's light show” to continue on and on and on and on... (Matthew 5:16)
