Yuma-area bowlers miss cut at U.S. Open
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. - Ralph Lopez and Javier Barragan, III failed to make the cut in the 61st U.S. Open at Fountain Valley, Calif.
The local duo competed agaist 359 bowlers from around the nation and world in the PBA's premier amateur event.
Brian Voss, of Alphrette, Ga., leads the tournament with a three-day total 4,086. The field was cut down to 90 for today's round.
Lopez finished 231st with an 182.9 average for 18 games. Lopez steadily climbed up the list after posting a first-day total of 1,104 for 221st place.
Barragan couldn't overcome a miserable six-game total 974 on the first-day, averaging 171.8 for 18 games for 303rd.
