San Luis CBP officers seize 32 pounds of methamphetamine

A woman from Mexico has been arrested for attempting to smuggle nearly 32 pounds of methamphetamine into the country through the San Luis port of entry.

According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection news release, officers on Monday referred Amy Jean Diaz, 38, of San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora Mexico, to the secondary inspection area for an additional inspection of her Ford van.

After a CBP narcotics detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs, the news release states that a further search of her van led to the discovery of 30 packages of methamphetamine hidden throughout the vehicle.

The drugs and vehicle were processed for seizure. Diaz was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
