Wellton Elementary School — School will resume Jan. 6.

Antelope Union High School — School will resume Jan. 4.

Mohawk Valley Elementary School — School will resume Jan. 4.

Dateland Elementary School — School will resume Jan. 6.

Wellton Library — The library will close at 5 p.m. today and be closed Friday. It will be open Saturday at regular hours.

There will be no GED classes, story time or teen programs this week.

Foothills Branch Library — The library will be closed Friday. It will be open Saturday at regular hours.

Story time is 10 a.m. today and the theme is "Christmas." Learn Spanish class begins at noon today, followed by the chess club meeting at 3 p.m., and the Spanish computer class at 5 p.m.

Yu-Gi-Oh club will meet at noon. The oldies movie "White Christmas" will be shown at 1 p.m. Saturday.

English conversation class is from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday. The reading council GED class is held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Story time is 10 a.m. Wednesday and the theme is "New Year’s."

Wellton senior center — The center is reopening with a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. on Jan. 4. There will be information booths. The suggested donation is $5. For more information, call Alma Clark at 217-7158. The center is located at 10234 Dome St.

Wellton rose garden — The beautiful roses in front of the Wellton school need some TLC. Everyone is invited to come at 9 a.m. Jan. 20. Bring your own gloves and drinking water. If you need more information, call Sherlee at 785-8404.

Town of Wellton — Town hall will be closed today and Christmas Day.

The next pick up for trash will be on Monday. Alley clean up will be the first week of January.

The 33rd annual Pioneer Day parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Feb. 5. Applications for both the parade and the fiesta can be made at the town hall in December and January. There are six different categories for booths at the fiesta: food, commercial, games, demonstration, arts and crafts, and entertainment.

The fee for residents is $25 and nonresidents is $50. The six food booths are available only to nonprofit organizations and there is no fee for craft, demonstration or game booths. You can also pick up applications for selling items on the parade route; that is covered by a booth fee.

Yuma County Health Department — The health department offers adult and children’s immunizations at walk-in clinics from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the second Friday of each month in Wellton at the old Head Start building. A $10 fee is charged per child, per visit. However, no child will be turned away for inability to pay. Clinics outside of Yuma are partially supported by Rotary’s Children’s Opportunity Grant. Sunset Community Health Center — Wellton family health clinic offers all types of dental work from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays. For appointments or information, call 785-8008. The clinic has added family practice provider Dr. Wilbur Don Duque and family nurse practitioner Angelica Vonciel Cooper.

The clinic will now open Wednesdays for consultations. Clinic hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Call 785-3256.

Hospice Compassus — We are looking for caring and compassionate individuals to join volunteer teams. To learn more, call Volunteer Services at 344-6100.

Dobson Museum
— The museum is open for viewing every day except Sunday by appointment only. To make an appointment, call Windy at 785-4013.

VFW Post No. 6790 Men’s and Ladies Auxiliary — Happy hour is 4 to 7 p.m. daily. Breakfasts are served at 8 a.m. Saturday: pancakes for a donation of $3 per person or ham and eggs for a $5 donation. Biscuits and gravy will be served at 10 a.m. every Sunday for a donation of $3. Hamburgers/cheeseburgers and fries with all the trimmings will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. each Monday for a $4.50/$5 donation.

Live music and meat draws are from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursdays. You can also have clam chowder and grilled cheese. Fish dinners are 4 to 6 p.m. every Friday for a donation of $6. For additional information call 785-4425. All proceeds go to the programs supported by the VFW.

East County Guardian Angels — Thrift Shoppe winter hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays at 28809 San Jose Ave. Pet wellness and vaccination clinics will be held every fourth Tuesday of the month in our pet clinic next door to the Thrift Shoppe. For more information or to volunteer, call the shop during open hours at 785-4819.

American Legion No. 67 — Bingo is today at the Wellton Community Center on Dome Street. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., games begin at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments are available.

YCAT — This public transport offers services from Wellton to Yuma and connecting services to many places in Yuma County including AWC, Yuma Palms Mall, Cocopah Casino, YRMC and Walmart stores with four trips a day.

AA meetings — Meetings are held at 6 p.m. each Tuesday, Room 111, in the back of the new Foothills Southern Baptist Church, 11711 Williams St. For more information, call 920-5713.

Habitat for Humanity — Each collection site to recycle aluminum cans will have an "Enviro green" Habitat collection house. The public can deposit aluminum cans to generate income that will be applied to a future Habitat house for the community of Wellton. If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information about projects, call 783-3993.

Dateland Branch Library — This branch of the Yuma County library is located within the Dateland School. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, except for the last Thursday of the month when it is closed but open on the Monday of that week.

The library offers free use of computers and books to check out. Computer and GED classes are offered.

Roll Branch Library — This branch of the Yuma County library is located within the Mohawk Valley School. The public is welcome to use the computers and check out books.
