YC girls impress in Mohave Valley
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Yuma Catholic girls won two relay races and finished fourth at the Mohave Electric Track Invitational on Friday, while the Shamrock boys had two relay wins as well and finished fifth.
"We had a long travel to get here and fared well considering we were missing some kids," YC coach Ralph Farr said. "I was surprised with girls nearly doubling the boys in points (99-52) because that's not our strength, but they came through and did well."
The girls team of Devon Graham, Alex Rosado, Amy Ford and Jaclyn Hill won the 800-meter relay in 1 minute, 58 seconds, and Graham, Hill, Charyssa Greenwell and Elizabeth Gump won the 1,600 relay (4:41). YC also finished second in the 400 relay with Hill, Rosado, Ford and Greenwell.
Rachel Harman won the 1,600 (6:07) and was second in the 3,200. Graham won the 800, and Rosado was second in the discus and fourth in shot put. Samantha Barzynski took third in the 1,600 and ran a personal best in the 3,200.
On the boy's side, Roderick Ford, Austin Rodriguez, Ernie Samaniego and Cody Alexander won the 800 relay (1:35), and Alexander, Ford, Samaniego and Chris Hill won the 1,600 relay (3:37). Ford, Alexander, Rodriguez and Robert Norton were third in the 400 relay, and the team of Sean Peters, Everettt McKinney, Rodrigo Castorena and Robert Matus took fourth in the 3,200 relay,
