Mother Goose uses agri-magic at county fair
Mother Goose will be at the Yuma County Fair Sunday to teach agriculture by using magic.
The magic show - on the Guido Stage at 12:30 and 3 p.m. - is called "Mother Goose and Her Farmyard Friends."
Donna Krewson, who personifies Mother Goose, said her shows are "fun, funny, fast–paced comedy magic shows for ages 2 to 92. I combine magic, music, mixed–up rhymes, audience participation and a surprise appearance of my bunny. I educate kids about agriculture in a fun, nonthreatening way."
Krewson said teaching kids about the importance of agriculture in America is essential.
"If we don't teach our children now, they will not be able to vote or make decisions about where their food comes from. Our farms are quickly disappearing, and we need farms, farmers and farm workers. Our family farms have pretty much gone by the wayside."
Krewson said she has been doing this act for about 15 years.
"Somebody walked up to me one day and told me I would make a great clown. So I started out as a clown and now I am Mother Goose."
Working with children "is why I get up every day. When I can make a child laugh, or they wrap their arms around me and say 'Mother Goose I love you,' there is nothing more magical in the world."
Sunday is the final day of the fair - so if you would like to see this or any of the other attractions, it's your last chance until next year.
