Historical meaning in Desert Rats name
A photographer by the name of Art Fzol had the artwork when the Yuma Test Board, a joint venture of the Canadian government and the Engineer Research and Development Labs at Fort Belvoir in Virginia, was temporarily closed.
George Howard, director of the bridge projects, had the artwork and gave the Order of the Desert Rats to employees working for him. I was lucky enough to be one of those employees.
I am thrilled with the name and think it has historical significance for our area, and I hope that newcomers and young people will appreciate the name.
