For the second year, Mementos, a locally owned scrapbooking and card-making store, has donated supplies to the Upward Bound Summer Program at Arizona Western College.
Area high school students involved in the program will design their own yearbooks as one of the numerous projects this summer, using more than $1,000 in new items donated by the store.
Lisa Nickle, owner of Mementos, said she was so encouraged by the results and dedication of last year’s participants, she donated again.
“The store was moving in May and there was an abundance of merchandise that we wanted to donate before the big move."
The camp includes academic classes and skill-building seminars. Students also have opportunities to take part in work-study positions and job shadowing with local businesses in the community.
