New Fisher Chevrolet dealership open in time for Christmas

Joe Fisher Jr., owner of Fisher Chevrolet, hoped to be in his new dealership by Christmas. He made it with a couple of days to spare.

The business moved into the new facility and was open for business bright and early the morning of Dec. 22. A grand opening is planned for Jan. 6.

The business had been operating out of Fisher Hyundai dealership for the last seven months during the demolition of the old Chevrolet dealership and construction the new facility at 755 E. 32nd St.

Yuma newcomers Laura and Bill Telford have opened Yuma Golf Company, a new golf store in the Foothills conveniently located right off the freeway in the Pioneer Shopping Center — it's between Tiki Hut and Radio Shack.

The store offers a wide range of golf clubs, golf apparel and course accessories to meet the needs of all golfers from the beginner to the well-practiced golfers.

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and Mondays. It can be reached at 271-5073.

Foothills-area developer Scott Spencer called last week with some good news. He has received plans for the proposed Taco Bell to be built near the Chevron Station that's on Fortuna Road in the Foothills. He added that he expects the plans will be submitted soon to Yuma County for review and building permits.

So, Steve and Lavonne and all you other Foothills-area residents who have been asking about the status of the Taco Bell in your neighborhood, it's coming soon.

Sprayed Rayz is back in business after taking a break, announced Jonna Pitts, who operates the business with her mother. The business, which was started in 2003, offers UV-free airbrush tanning.

Located at 105 E. 24th St., the business is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays or by appointment. For more information, call 580-7027.

Nicklaus Engineering Inc. and affiliate, Gutierrez Canales Engineering, PC, have hired a new architect as well as additional engineering and construction personnel. Two years ago, the firm reduced staff in response to the economic downturn, but the tide seems to have turned with increasing business demands requiring an increase in workforce, reported Karl Ingersoll, marketing director.

Edward Fagin, AIA, has joined NEI from Tucson, where he began his career in 1979 and worked on a wide variety of building types. Fagin is a former member of the U.S. Congressional Advisory Board, former member of the Urban Land Institute, a past committee chair of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and former member of Kiwanis International and the Primavera Foundation.

Adding a contractor's license to her credentials, co-owner Marisol Canales is continuing to add services offered by NEI/GCE.

And a new position of construction manager was created to oversee the company's pavement rehabilitation project at Naval Air Facility in El Centro.

The companies, located 1851 W. 24th St., also are owned by Stacy Gutierrez.

The Lighthouse Coffee Bar & Bistro (formerly Esther's) has moved to a new location and is now at 330 S. Main St. (between the Prickly Pear and Yuma Office & Equipment), announced owners Frank and Fran Sharples. With the move, the establishment now has a full espresso bar, along with sandwiches, homemade soups, salads and desserts.

New hours are 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. For ordering and catering, call 783-7000.

Pink Coconut Airbrush Tanning has been renamed The Pink Boutique to reflect the shop's addition of stiletto heels, boots and makeup, announced owner Melissa Olea. She still provides mobile service in airbrush tanning as well as makeup application.

Yuma Gastroenterology physicians Alec Esker, Divesh Anireddy and Ashesh Sanghvi will break ground on their new, 10,000-square-foot medical facility next week.

Christopher Thompson of Patterson Thompson Architects designed the state-of-the-art facility and Pilkington Commercial Co. is the building contractor.

The new facility at 1390 W. 16th St. is expected to be completed in July 2012. With its completion, Yuma Gastro will relocate from its current location at 1030 W. 24th St. However, Endoscopy Center of Yuma will remain in its current location there.

Alan Kircher, city of Yuma deputy building official, reported that permits issued recently by the city include:

• The new Cielo Verde Shops multitenant building B at 32nd Street and Avenue 8E.

• Enclosure of an existing storage area for Green Rubber Kennedy, an agriculture supply business located at 2745 E. 24th St.

• A new entry canopy for Palm View Rehabilitation at 2222 S. Avenue A. The center currently also is in the process of building a new 3,000-square-foot therapy gym where the annex building previously was located.

With its completion, the center also will offering out-patient therapy for which Palm View is in the licensing process, reported Stephanie Chaney B.S. B.A, director of business development and marketing.
