Public notices should stay in papers

Keep all governmental public notices in the newspapers of Arizona. This layer of forced transparency, which the state legislature and local governments cannot control, is in the best ‘keeping government open and honest' interests of all Arizonans. It is well worth the cost in dollars.

Any chance I get, I glance through local newspapers. I recall a complaint in one about how far behind the local government was in posting minutes and notices on its official site. At the state level, the first thing cut in times of economic hardship will be the posting of information.

This effort to limit its information sharing is from a legislature with such a paranoid distrust of public school systems that it handcuffs them with ludicrous economic and reporting rules … and then says to the public of its own activities, “Just trust us, guys.” MMMM … I think not.
