Put blame on people, not guns
The NRA, video games and guns are not responsible for all the tragedies happening. Guns do not kill people – people kill people. Parents, use the locked gun cases that you should be purchasing with the purchase of a gun, or purchase a gun safe.
I totally agree with Bruce Homes letter of Dec. 20. We should train teachers and school administrators in gun safety and they should be allowed to have these guns on their body when teaching school. They have the responsibility of teaching, protecting our children when they are at school. They have accepted that responsibility, so why not give them the tools to protect themselves and our children?
Please, people, wake up, I know many of you do not approve of guns and just hope this senseless tragedy doesn't happen to one of your innocent children. Until you experience this kind of loss, you have no right to blame anyone or any thing (guns). So get off your bandwagons and help your state and your community to help protect those you love.
My son was so traumatized from this tragedy (he's 45). He told me, “Now Mom, you wonder why I want to carry a handgun to protect my two precious kids, (people) in my life and heart that I don't even want to think about losing because of some ill-minded person that doesn't want to live and had to take 20 beautiful, wonderful little angels and all the staff he could possibly shoot with him. He was just a sick, sick individual. People are the problem, not guns!”
Maybe everyone should be carrying a gun! I truly feel also that anyone that is allowed to carry a gun needs to have proper training, a background check and possibly a psychiatric exam. We have to start somewhere.
