Could it be that cooler temperatures are almost here? We can only hope.
In the meantime, here are some events going on around Yuma for the month of October.
Check out the Little Steps program Oct. 3, 10 and 17 at Clymer Recreation Center, 553 S. Orange Ave.
This event is designed to help parents and children learn to play together with a variety of games and activities.
Little Steps meets from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Call 373-5243 for more information.
LeAnn Rimes will bring her country music sound to the Yuma County Fairgrounds on Oct. 4 for the YRMC Western Dance and BBQ.
Gates open at 6 p.m., with a tri-tip dinner. A dance band will warm the crowd up from 6:30-7:30 p.m., with Rimes taking the stage at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $60, and can be purchased at the YRMC Corporate Center Foundation Office & Western Warehouse, or online at www.yumaregional.org.
Also on Oct. 4, Kennedy Pool will close out the season with a Doggie Day of Summer.
From 1-3 p.m., families are invited to bring their dogs to the pool, located at 24th Street and Kennedy Lane, for a cool dip.

Yuma Jazz Company will bring its cool sounds to Julieanna's Patio Cafe from 7-9 p.m. Oct. 3.
Julieanna's is located at 1951 W. 25th St.
Family Pottery classes are also available this month at the North End Community Center, 160 E. 1st St.
Children ages 6 and up can learn how to hand build a creation or throw one on the potter's wheel.
The class meets on Mondays through Oct. 13 from 6-8 p.m.
Fans of Magic collectible card game are invited to a booster draft from 6-9 p.m. every Thursday from Oct. 9-Nov. 13.
The draft is held at Fan-Quest, 850 W. 32nd St. #1. Call 726-0247 for more information.
Fan-Quest is also the spot for the Yuma Anime Club meeting. The club meets Oct. 9 and 23 this month from 6-9 p.m.
Ages 10 and up can take an evening canoe ride at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 10 down the Colorado River with the Yuma Spirit Hunters.
This Halloween-themed event will focus on learning local history while hearing about hauntings.
The end of the trip will feature hot drinks and cookies.

A catfish rodeo will be held from 7 a.m. to noon Oct. 18 at the West Wetlands Pond, 2200 Water St.
Participants can try to catch one of the 10 tagged fish to win prizes. Those who wish to fish should bring their own bait and fishing gear. The event is free for children under 13 with their parents.

Teens in grades 7-12 are invited to the Pumpkin Palooza from 4-5 p.m. Oct. 22.
Teens can decorate their own pumpkins just in time for Halloween.
The event will be held at the MLK Teen Center, 300 S. 13th Ave. Admission is $3. Register at 373-5243.
Foothills Assembly of God will host their seventh annual Family Fun Night from noon-7 p.m. Oct. 25.
The event is an alternative to Halloween fun for all ages, and offers games, prizes, candy, snow cones and food.
