Where's Yuma's Best place to ride a bike? It is the Colorado River Multi-use Path along the East Main Canal, according to The Sun's readers.
"Well, that's what it was designed for," said Dave Nash, city of Yuma spokesman. "The good news is there are even more improvements coming to the path this year."
Plans are under way to build a tunnel under 32nd Street so bike and pedestrian traffic can bypass the traffic on the busy street, he said.
"Parks are a quality of life issue for everybody in town. The city has shown consistent commitment not only to parks maintenance, but also parks improvement.
"We take seriously any opportunity to improve our parks, and we appreciate those people in the community that support our parks."
Cyclists and pedestrians can pick up the path at the levee by Joe Henry Park and follow it to 1st Street. From there, they can pedal clear across town to 40th Street. There is also another section that runs from the Yuma Quartermaster Depot State Historic Park to Madison Avenue.
For more information, call the Yuma Parks and Recreation Department at 373-5243.
