Melanie Negroni, her husband and her two children will be treated to a special night of fun and food courtesy of Cocopah Resort and Conference Center and Wild River.
A photo taken by the family at Silver Strand State Beach on Coronado Island in California over the 4th of July weekend was chosen as the best photo of all those submitted to the Raising Yuma photo contest in July.
The photos could be taken anywhere — from the Yuma area, to Italy or China — and could depict any subject matter including rainbows, landscaping, family photos and animals.
The entries were judged by a Yuma Sun committee who reviewed the photos and picked the best one.
“Cool,” Negroni said when she heard she was the winner for the first time. “That is awesome.”
As a prize, the family will receive Cocopah's Triple Play Getaway which includes a one-night stay at the Cocopah Resort, bowling, pizza and 24-hour pool time for four people.
“They are going to have so much fun,” she said of her two kids.
Negroni decided to enter the contest after she posted the photo on Facebook.
“You know somebody told me about the contest and they suggested I enter it because it was a really cool picture.”
Negroni, did not expect to win.
“No not at all,” she said. “It is exciting.”
