The Arizona Western women's basketball team needed Gila Ridge alum Brontee Simpson to come to the rescue on Saturday afternoon.
Simpson hit a 3-pointer at the end of regulation and the Matadors held on for a 66-61 win at Pima.
Emilie Muanandibu had a team-high 15 points for the Matadors (15-5 overall, 8-3 in Arizona Community College Athletic Conference) while Lisette Longomo scored 13 and Samantha Wallace added 10.
But it was Simpson who was the hero with her only 3-pointer of the day coming with 2.2 seconds left in the second half to force overtime. Longomo scored six points in overtime, including the final five of the game.
