2 arrested while police seek man wanted in connection with homicide
Two women were arrested on outstanding warrants Thursday evening while Yuma Police were searching for Jose Jimenez, the man wanted in connection with the homicide of 29-year-old Christal Figueroa. Jimenez was not located and is still at large.
According to the Yuma Police Department, at about 5:45 p.m. detectives were dispatched to a trailer located in the Sunrise Mobile Estates 55+ Community, 1950 E 24th Street, to search for Jimenez.
As detectives approached the trailer, several people fled the area. Police then made contact with 34-year-old Regina Kettunen and 21-year-old Amanda McClellan. During questioning, police discovered each woman had outstanding felony warrants, and arrested them. They were booked into the Yuma County Adult Detention Center.
According to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, Kettunen was wanted for alleged possession of a narcotic drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI.
McClellan was wanted for a probation violation. She had been originally convicted for facilitation to commit fraudulent schemes and artifices.
Police did not specify whether either woman had any connection with the Figueroa homicide case, or with Jimenez.
