Politicians not worried about going over fiscal cliff

Every state has to come up with a budget on time. Why is the federal government, it seems, exempt from this?

Why is the public worried about our families and the financial catastrophe which is about to befall us with the fiscal cliff, yet the Congress and president don't seem concerned in the least, as if they were not involved in any of it? It seems they are more worried about their flights home for the holidays than solving the problem.

Former New York Gov. George Pataki, when faced with union contract negotiations, locked the delegates and management in a room and they were instructed to compromise or remain locked in. There were no losers in this, and the job was done. “In every dispute, there is an area of compromise” he said, and they settled.

President Obama might take a lesson from this and lock the congressional chamber until they fix this situation. There would be NO losers in this and the representatives would simply be doing their jobs.

We go into the holiday season hanging on a “cliff.” Let them solve the problem before they expect to get their paychecks. Do the job that we elected them to do. If we DO go over the cliff, all of Congress and the president should NOT receive one penny of their salary until this is cleared up.
