Boy drowns in family pool
A 3-year-old boy drowned in the family pool Monday morning, according to the Yuma Police Department.
Police officers and the Yuma Fire Department responded shortly after 10 a.m. Monday to the 4000 block of Sunflower Drive for a report of a possible drowning.
The boy was found unresponsive in the family pool. He was transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
No further information was available by press time.
As the weather heats up and more children head to area pools and canals for relief, concerns about drowning also increase. In Yuma, one young child drowned in 2012, and two died this way in 2011.
Anyone with information about Monday’s case is asked to call Sgt. Ron Rodriguez at 373-4678, or 78-CRIME to remain anonymous.
