Time for president to step down
Sequestration ... Who does it belong to and just who put the idea forward? While President Barack Obama has used scare tactics and fear mongering in his argument against the sequestration, it’s time to look at the truth as spoken by Obama and White House spokesman Jay Carney.
Back on Oct. 22, 2012, President Barack Obama stated, and I quote, "First of all the sequester is not something that I proposed, it is something that Congress proposed…It will not happen." Then House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer made the following comments: "Everyone should be clear that sequestration is a Republican policy and it is a bad policy." Then when questioned about sequestration by a member of the press, Jay Carney replied, "The sequester was something that was discussed and as has been reported, it was an idea that the White House put forward." In yet another White House briefing, Carney said, "What I will concede is we were looking and Republicans were looking for a trigger around which to build a mechanism to get us out of default possibility and sequester was one of the ideas put forward by the president’s team."
So, here you have a person who was elected and re-elected to the office of the presidency, the leader of the free world, if you will, some would say the most powerful person on Earth stating that "First of all the sequester is not something that I proposed, it is something that Congress proposed…It will not happen." Then, as proven by his own White House spokesman, Jay Carney was caught up in a lie. A lie that Barack Obama continues to tell to this day.
I believe it is time for Barack Obama to do the right thing, do as President Richard Nixon did when he was caught in a lie, Mr. President, admit wrongdoing and resign the office of presidency effective at noon tomorrow. If you are not the man Nixon was and you cannot do the honorable thing, it is time for Congress to begin impeachment proceedings. Shame on you, Barack Obama. We teach our children not to lie, what kind of example have you set for all Americans?
