Race for the Castle fundraiser Saturday

The Castle Dome Middle School Parent Teacher Organization is holding its third annual Race for the Castle 5K run/walk to raise funds to recognize students and teachers on their campus.

It will be held Saturday, with registration beginning at 7:15 a.m. and the race at 8:30 a.m. Age categories are 14 and under and 15 and over.

“Our school has a lot of great students and teachers, so the PTO is working hard to raise money to show them how wonderful they are,” said PTO president Melisa Rossi.

She noted that the event continues to grow every year, from 58 runners the first year to 104 last year.

“This event really is a lot of fun, the feeling you get when you see all the runners together creates such harmony, and you can feel it in the air, it really is enjoyable.”

The first 25 to register will receive a Race for the Castle hat. Male and female winners in each age category will receive medals.

Entry forms can be downloaded from www.castledome.yuma.org and sent with a $10 entry fee to CDMS PTO, 2353 S. Otondo Drive, or filled out on the day of the event.
