Raiders cross country takes third

Four Cibola boys cross country runners medaled at the Tempe-Marcos de Niza Padre Invite on Saturday.
The Raiders finished third overall with 95 points behind Gilbert-Highland (54) and Oro Valley-Ironwood Ridge (87) on the 3 mile course at Kiwanis Park.
Edward Guerrero led Cibola with a fifth-place finish with a time of 16:09. Josh Lopez was 17th (16:41) followed by Ryan Norton in 18th (16:42). Richard Clayton came in 25th (16:57). Medals were given to the top 25.
Gilbert-Highland took first place in the girls competition as well with a team score of 54. The Raiders girls team finished seventh (211).
