Raider relay takes first in Mesa
The Cibola boys 200-yard breaststroke relay team took first Saturday at the Mesa relays, one of five Cibola teams to take home a medal from the nine-school event.
Ryan Keough, Freddy Martinez, Danny Russell-Cheung and Andrew Russell-Cheung combined on a time of 2 minutes, 1.06 seconds.
Two other boys relay teams took second. The 100 wet T-shirt relay — where each team member swims 25 yards in a shirt, jumps out of the pool and exchanges the shirt with his teammate — took silver in 1:12.77. Members were Keough, both Russell-Cheung brothers and Christian Richardson. The diving relay of Brandon Jaramillo, Caleb Newgent, Elijah McBride and Ahlan Garcia finished with 239.10 points for second as well.
The 200 backstroke team of Ryan Corbin, Lorenzo Chavez, Zach McClanahan and George Gould took third in 1:58.29.
On the girls side, Anna Gould, Sarah Russell-Cheung, Paige Echols and Jesse Kaba took second in the 400 individual medley in 4:49.
