San Luis tennis completes perfect region run
San Luis ended Gila Valley Region play with resounding 9-0 victory over Yuma High on Thursday.
The Sidewinders (13-2 AIA, 7-0 region) locked up back-to-back GVR titles a couple of weeks ago. San Luis will take a seven match win streak into the first round of the 5A Division II team tournament, which begins Monday. San Luis is currently No. 7 in the power rankings and will host a playoff match.
Winning in singles were Eric Rodriguez 6-4, 6-3; Max Pinnow 6-0, 6-1; Rafael Rodriguez 6-1, 6-2; Adrian Maranon 6-0, 6-1; Juan Lara 6-1, 5-7, 11-9, and Aldo Amaya 6-2, 6-2.
Eric Rodriguez and Pinnow won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Rafael Rodriguez and Maranon teamed for an 8-5 win at No. 2 singles. Amaya and Angel Valera completed the sweep with an 8-3 victory.
