Cruz is the daughter of Teresa and Daniel Cruz of Wellton, she was picked from among seventh-grade students across Yuma County for the award given for citizenship and academic excellence.

Ramirez, the daughter of Raymundo and Olga Ramirez of Wellton, will use toward her expenses to attend the University of Arizona. Presenting the honors on behalf of the association are Bob and Jill Sloncen. Runners-up for the High Award were Lacey Miller of Southwest Christian School, Quinn Nelson of Castle Dome Middle School and Estevan Gutierrez of Gila Vista Junior High School.
