YUHSD campuses offering tours
Classroom tours are continuing this semester at Yuma Union High School District campuses beginning Jan. 18.
To allow the public an opportunity to visit local high school classrooms, YUHSD has announced tour dates on the following Fridays: Jan. 18, Feb. 1, March 1, March 15, April 12, April 26 and May 10.
To sign up for a tour, visit http://tinyurl.com/8vc8ovj to register. Prior registration is required so schools can appropriately plan for the number of tour guides needed. Tours last from 45 to 60 minutes and after the tour, participants will be sent a survey via email.
Members of the public interested in attending a campus are asked to arrive five to 10 minutes early on tour dates to allow time to get a visitor's name tag and meet the tour guide, who could be an administrator, teacher, staff member or student. Tours will begin at 9 a.m. at Cibola, Kofa, San Luis and Yuma high schools; 9:30 a.m. at Gila Ridge High School; and 8 a.m. at Vista Alternative High School.
“The purpose of the tours is to share the great work teachers and students are doing through Ready Now Yuma, Career and Technical Education classes, Advanced Placement classes and elective programs. The district realizes that many of their constituents do not have school-age children. Expectations of students have changed with advancements in the world. Yuma Union High School District expects every student to graduate prepared for success in college and career,” Superintendent Toni Badone said.
“We believe that our students are the future, and that the economic future of our community depends on our work in education. Many community leaders are champions of education, but we need every community member to be a champion. We hope they will come see first-hand how hard our teachers and students are working toward a bright future for Yuma County.”
This is the second semester that tours have been offered at YUHSD.
