Yuma eliminated
The No. 12 Criminals scored in the first inning and failed to cross the plate again in a 6-1 loss to No. 8 Boulder Creek.
The loss at Rose Mofford Field 1 in the loser bracket of the 5A-II second round ended the season for the Criminals.
Things started promising for Yuma High when Larissa Espinoza singled and scored on a Malina Montenegro triple.
But Boulder Creek got three back in the bottom of the first, then tacked on three unearned runs in the fifth and sixth to seal the win.
"We kind of fell apart there - actually, there was no kind of. We did fall apart and lost our focus," Crim coach Liz Huyck said. "But we had too many errors and stranded too many people on base."
The Criminals banded out seven hits and stranded eight runners.
