PREP GIRLS SOCCER
Gila Ridge wins sixth straight
Gila Ridge ended its season of six straight victories with a 4-0 win over San Luis Thursday night.
“This is the first time all season we played better in the second half than the first,” said Hawks coach John Gronbach. “We just started passing the ball around them.”
Gila Ridge junior Sheridan Smith scored a hat trick while Asia Chavez scored the final goal.
YC rolls in finale
Three players had two goals apiece as Yuma Catholic topped Lake Havasu 9-1 on Thursday.
Elisadel Evans, Karla Navarro and Sydney Compton led the Shamrocks, who find out their playoff fate when the Division III brackets are revealed today.
Kofa beats Yuma High
After only being ahead 1-0 at halftime, Kofa opened up its offense and scored four goals to beat Yuma High 5-0 Thursday night.
Laticia Casillas and Cinthya Samaniego scored two goals apiece and Jennifer Flores had one goal.

San Luis tops Hawks
After being down 3-2 at halftime, San Luis scored four goals in the second half to win 6-3 against Gila Ridge Thursday.
The Sidewinders jumped up 2-0 early, and Gila Ridge scored three unanswered goals.
“They punished us for our stupidity,” said San Luis coach Ian McDougall.
After some halftime adjustments, San Luis opened up the game and didn't look back. Andres Elizalde scored two goals including the tying goal, Leo Moreno scored the game winner and Marlin Atondo also scored.
PREP BOYS BASKETBALL
Cibola crushes Kofa
Steven Loucks had 24 points, four blocks and three assists as Cibola topped Kofa 74-38 on Thursday.
Brett Boyer hit three 3-pointers and scored 13 points and Noah Thompson added 10 points.
Antelope gets win over Tonopah Valley
Austin Mercer had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds Thursday night in Antelope's 58-52 victory over Tonopah Valley Thursday.
The Rams trailed most of the game but overcame a fourth quarter deficit to get the win. Ramon Alcala had 12 points and Johnny Quiroz added five steals and nine assists.
PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL
YC girls lose
Playing for the third time in as many nights, the Yuma Catholic girls lost 61-48 at home to River Valley on Thursday.
“We just ran out of gas,” coach Bob McGalliard said. “No excuses, but this schedule is just killer.”
Madison Brazeel scored 26 points and had four assists, while Darcy McCallister had six points and 15 rebounds. Mary Terkelsen chipped in eight points and seven rebounds for YC, which plays its fourth game in four days at home tonight against Parker.
Tonopah beats Antelope
Samantha Twist led the Rams with six points in Antelope's 33-12 loss at the hands of Tonopah Thursday night.
Antelope was missing four players due to illness and only played six girls the entire game.
“This was a huge improvement from the last time we played them,” said Rams coach James Jones. “We backed them down 17 points on defense.”
PREP BOYS WRESTLING
Antelope goes 1-2
The Rams lost 56-18 to Camp Verde and 42-24 to Northwest Christian, but beat the host school Brigade Catholic 36-30 in their meet Thursday.
Jason St. Clair (132) and Fred Pierson (160) went 3-0 and three other Rams won 2-1 on the night.
