Yuma's Best 2012: All Seasons Florist

Best Florist

If anyone knows the importance of presentation, it's the people at All Seasons Florist Balloons and Gifts.

When the Yuma florist shop gets an order for a flower arrangement, it doesn't just fill a vase with what might be considered a suitable number of stems for the money spent by the customer, said Mike Didier, the owner.

“When we make an arrangement, we call it filling the value.”

That means arranging flowers of good quality in a manner that is pleasing to the eye of the customer, Didier explained.

The staff at All Seasons wants an arrangement “to look as if they were presenting it themselves,” he said.

All Seasons, located at 2059 S. Avenue A, was named by voters in Yuma's Best, the Yuma Sun's reader poll, as the area's Best Florist.

Didier attributes the first place in polling to “our commitment to quality, our commitment to customer satisfaction. And, he added, “we have a very local core of customers” who, he said, had been doing business with All Seasons even before Didier and the shop manager, Elaine McBride, acquired it in 2009.

As the name of the business implies, All Seasons has flowers for all occasions: Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, get-well greetings for hospital patients, work-related celebrations, weddings and funerals.

But the business doesn't sell generic arrangements, he said.

“We build an arrangement to (the customer's) specification. It's more of an engagement with the customer, rather than taking a call and shipping off an arrangement. We work with customers to build an arrangement to their expectations.”

All Seasons' biggest day of business is Valentine's Day, when its drivers will make 500 deliveries, but the florist shop delivers flowers for all occasions.

The shop also offers a selection of plants, Gund teddy bears and other products from the Gund line.

Customers can place orders at All Seasons by phone, 782-5611; on its website, www.allseasonsfloristyuma.com; or by dropping in, he said.

Didier handles the financial side of the business, while McBride oversees employees who take customer orders, craft flower arrangements and make the deliveries.

“She's the nuts and bolts of the business,” said Didier. “If she wasn't there, I'd have a lot of trouble.”

Didier said All Seasons' philosophy is to “provide the highest-quality product with the understanding of the customers' needs.” He credits its success in part to a loyal customer base that the previous owner earned through her insistence on quality products and good service.

He had this message for customers who voted for All Seasons in Yuma's Best: “Thank you very much for the business you've given us over the years and we look forward to serving you in the years to come.”
