Film gives our nation hope
After reading the Letters to the Editor on Jan. 2, I felt compelled to respond.
One side effect of “freedom of speech” is that anyone can make a case, put it in print, and misinterpret facts to suit their purpose. Hence the saying, “Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you read.”
I would urge every American to watch the movie “Monumental,” done by Kirk Cameron. In this movie Kirk follows the trials and paths the pilgrims took to escape the religious tyranny in England and start a new life in a new country.
We learn about the “Mayflower Contract,” which was drawn up while they were still aboard ship. We see documented coverage of historical facts, truths that are not taught in our history books.
This movie is a real eye opener! It stirs a desire to visit the places Kirk visited and see for ourselves the true intent of our forefathers regarding the separation of church and state.
If we are honest with ourselves, we need to look around at the path our country is following and our hearts will tell us this is a path that leads to destruction. Can this downward spiral be turned around?
The movie “Monumental” gives a new outlook on the foundation of our country and the importance of our Constitution. It gives hope for the future of our great nation. I encourage everyone to see it.
