Man arrested in shooting incident
A Yuma man was in custody Monday on suspicion of attempted homicide following a Sunday incident in which a man was shot in the face. Meanwhile, law officers were still seeking another man in an unrelated shooting incident last week.
Billy Condry, 76, is accused of walking into the Western Club, 2545 W. 16th St., and shooting Steven Schenick, 34, just after 1 a.m. on Sunday.
Condry was arrested at the scene of the shooting and booked into the Yuma County Adult Detention Facility on the homicide charge and a charge of aggravated assault, the Yuma Police Department said.
Schenick was initially taken to the Yuma Regional Medical Center and later transported to a hospital in San Diego. His condition was unavailable Monday.
Yuma County sheriff's deputies continued their search Monday for Ezequiel Gonzalez, 55, who is believed to have shot another man in the leg in the 600 block of Avenue C Thursday afternoon before fleeing the area in a pickup truck.
The name of victim was not released by deputies.
Both shootings remain under investigation.
