Dismayed by stand on shopping center sign
I am concerned and dismayed about your lack of vision in regard to the huge sign proposed by WDP Partners for the new Yuma Palms shopping center, as expressed in your Feb. 19 editorial headlined "Continuing sign saga illustrates Yuma problem."
The issues raised by Yuma's Design Review Committee are legitimate and should be addressed. There are no second chances. Once the sign is up, it's up forever. The bureaucratic maze you refer to is nothing more than guidelines used by the city to maintain the aesthetic values of any project that comes before them.
Take a visit to Los Angeles to see the miles and miles of huge billboards on every freeway approaching the city. I envision 900 square feet billboards from the Quechan Reservation (some already there, but smaller) to Telegraph Pass.
Who cares, you ask? Well, if I'm the only one, then I relocated to the wrong community.
