Newspapers in Education

Here are some great holiday sites for kids and parents to share over the winter break that will keep students learning, questioning and exploring - and may keep them busy for a few minutes while you wrap something else!

Kid Scoop

Jokes, holiday activities activities, help for schoolwork, and great links to awsome educational sites - this week, animation on how to make an origami crane!  Great sections for parents and planning for teachers too.

The History Channel online: Holidays

History.com can answer all those Christmas tradition 'why' and 'how' questions with videos from the 'Evolution of Christmas', to 'Strange Christmas Traditions' and much more. The site also has great sections on Kwanzaa and Hanukkah.  A great way to share thoughts with older kids on your family traditions.

PBS online

The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) Parents site is a wealth of fun holiday topics, how-to's and great shows to share with family.  PBS Kids has great games and activities for young ones and PBS Kids Go has more for older students. A great site to bookmark for year-round educational fun.  And teachers, don't forget your area on the PBS site for classroom resources and great ideas to get kids learning and broaden your professional skills.

Santa Sing-a-long Songs

Want to sing along with Santa?  Here's a great site that gives you the tune and the words - you can even download sheet music.  Earplugs for Uncle Bob not included, so sing at your own risk!

Get in touch with the North Pole

Write a last-minute note to Santa, chat with Santa's elves, and play other fun games from the North Pole.  Lots of interactive activities and ideas for the holidays.

Where in the world is Santa?
Track Santa on NORAD as he delivers gifts to boys and girls all over the world - and don't forget to check out Countdown Village for fun games and activities!  This site is a favorite worldwide year after year.

Chanukah Celebrations and traditions

Chanukah is being celebrated through Dec. 28th and you can join the Torah Tots on their page to play fun games and learn all about the Festival of Lights.  Also check out the Chanukah page at Chabad.org for great stories, recipes, crafts and much more.
