Early reporting is voting problem

The Electoral College versus a popular vote is frequently discussed, as it has been in recent letters to the editor.

The Electoral College mainly defines the Congress of 435 representatives (refer to the U.S. Constitution). The U.S. Senate is 2 seats per state. House of Representatives districts are divided in each state every 10 years by population.

This decade Arizona added a 9th district, and a northern state lost a congressional seat due to their reduced population.

The biggest problem, as I see it, is on presidential election night. The media starts reporting voter exit comments and eastern polling results closing long before the western states have closed their polling places, and the media is only interested in the few largest populated states, and the divisive demographics. Shouldn’t it be all AMERICANS voting (period!)?

Back to the discussion of popular vote for president rather than Electoral College. The discussion should be as to why and to how to do so.

If you believe that a candidate should be elected, then use your argument of persuasion for support with your family, neighbors, friends, etc. Talk about the candidates.

We Americans should be active and learned voters.

When you ask for an early ballot — then use it to vote.
