Best Place to Shop for Shoes, Men's, Women's Fashions: Dillard's

It's sometimes said that it's impossible to be all things to all people.

Maybe, maybe not. In any case, Yuma's Dillard's store is challenging that conventional wisdom.

The store located in the Yuma Palms Regional Center can make a valid claim to the titles of the Yuma area's Best Place to Buy Shoes, Best Place to Shop for Men's Fashions and Best Place to Shop for Women's Fashions.

Yuma Sun readers chose Dillard's as the winner in each of those categories for 2010 in Yuma's Best, the newspaper's annual poll of favorite businesses, restaurants, entertainment venues and other attractions.

And no matter whether customers want shoes or clothes, store manager John Boehler says the store has something for everyone's needs and tastes, in both branded merchandise and merchandise exclusive to the chain.

“We do a very good job of providing what the customers want,” he said. “We bring the latest fashions from the runway — we're very fashion-forward.”

On the other hand, he added, the store also meets the needs of customers who care less about fashion and more about comfort or practicality.

Dillard's has lots of men's and women's comfort shoes to choose from, said Boehler, but “we're also one of the strongest in athletic shoes.”

“Our stockroom in ladies' shoes alone has more than 13,000 pairs,” he added.

In men's and women's fashions, the Yuma Dillard's likewise balances the needs of customers who want to stay current with those who have a range of other clothing wants and needs.

The men's section, for example, has styles for all occasions.

The women's section is more oriented to casual wear, but as is the case with the men's department, customers there can find clothes for all ages and for all occasions, Boehler said.
