Intersection of Avenue A, 18th to close nightly starting March 21
The intersection of Avenue A and 18th Street will be closed to traffic nightly for a two-week period starting March 21 because of a water line project, city officials said.
The closure will take place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. nightly until April 2. The intersection will reopen to traffic each day.
The city is installing a 36-inch waterline from the 16th Street water storage tanks at 16th Street and Interstate 8 to the Yuma Valley.
Because of the project, 16th Street is currently reduced to two lanes between Avenue B and Pendergast Avenue. Also, 18th Street is closed to all but local traffic between 4th and 6th avenues and is scheduled to remain so until April. Eighteenth Street between 12th and 14th avenues and between 1st and 4th avenues is scheduled to reopen to traffic on Monday.
