40th Street Water Transmission Line, Avenue 3E to 6E
The 40th Street and Avenue 3-1/2E intersection remains closed to all traffic in all directions for several weeks as crews work on the water transmission line project in this area. Use either Avenue 3E or Avenue 4E for north-south traffic and 32nd Street or County 13th Street for east-west traffic.
Gila Street between 3rd Street and Giss Parkway
On Tuesday, Nov. 2, Gila Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. between 3rd Street and Giss Parkway. The city will be repairing a water transmission line. Detour using Main, Maiden or Madison.
16th Street near East Main Canal - Southwest Gas
Southwest Gas has received a permit to perform gas valve maintenance work in the area of 16th Street and El Paseo Real, near the East Main Canal. Crews will be working in the center turn lane and in the left westbound lane of 16th Street, reducing 16th to one lane for westbound traffic. Left turns will be prohibited during work times from eastbound 16th to northbound El Paseo Real.
Avenue 3E and 24th Street widening and utilities
Motorists are advised to observe and obey traffic control devices and/or utilize detours as Avenue 3E remains closed between Palo Verde and 24th Street. Avenue 3E is open between 32nd Street and Palo Verde Street; motorists should be advised that the 32nd-Palo Verde intersection now functions for the time being as a three-way stop. From the north (I-8), southbound 3E traffic is diverted onto westbound 24th Street using a constructed bypass road. Pacific Avenue is the closest north-south detour for through north-south traffic.
City fog seal street maintenance, week of Nov. 1
The city of Yuma's annual fall fog seal program will begin the week of Oct. 18.
Fog seal is a fresh oil spray used to extend the life of street pavement three to five years.
Scheduled areas for the week of Nov. 1-5 are 8th Street from Avenue B to Clifford Way; Pacific Avenue from 12th Street to 16th Street; and Pacific Avenue from 16th Street to 18th Street. Work times are as follows:
• Monday: 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Tuesday: 1 a.m. to 9 a.m.
• Wednesday: 1 a.m. to 9 a.m.
• Thursday: 1 a.m. to 9 a.m.
• Friday: 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Early start times are intended to minimize the impact on homeowners and motorists in the area. Be advised that road closures, lane restrictions and detours may be in effect during the course of this project. Normal traffic flow will resume as time and weather permits.
ADOT 32nd Street repaving - night closure for westbound lanes
The Arizona Department of Transportation continues working on Business 8/32nd Street between Avenue 3E and the intersection of 4th Avenue and Catalina during nighttime and early-morning hours through the remainder of this week. Improvements to 32nd Street (B-8) include resurfacing the road in an effort to extend the life of the existing roadway and help reduce future costs. Ongoing paving work should be completed by the end of October. Final resurfacing work will be completed in December.
Avenue B sidewalks - ADOT
The Arizona Department of Transportation is improving several small sidewalk areas along 4th Avenue (B-8) and along U.S. 95 (Avenue B and 16th Street) in Yuma. Workers will be present Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. During construction you can expect right-lane closures adjacent to the sidewalk areas that are being worked on. Signage will be placed along the affected areas to inform motorists and pedestrians about the restrictions.
Work locations are as follows:
• 16th Street from Avenue B to 14th Avenue
• 4th Avenue from 8th Street to Catalina Drive
Avenue B to Avenue C, 1st Street to 8th Street sewer project - Yuma County
Work is under way on sewer lines in a general area between 1st and 8th streets and Avenues B to C. Occasional closures and lane restrictions will take place at varying times during the course of this project.
