Raiders romp at Desert Twilight
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Cibola boys cross country team smoked the competition at the Desert Twilight Cross Country Festival open varsity race at Toka Sticks in Gilbert on Friday.
The Raiders won the 32-team race with a team score of 47, the second closest team was Casa Grande with a score of 160. The Raiders were paced by Eduardo Guerrero, who finished second overall with a time of 15 minutes, 50 seconds. He was followed by teammates Josh Lopez (third), Richard Clayton (sixth), Ryan Norton (eighth) and Jose Ramirez (28).
The boys team was prepared to race in the tougher sweepstakes race with just 20 teams, but miscommunication resulted in the Raiders running in the open event.
The Cibola girls team took fourth in the 23-team open race with a score of 157. Monica Huston paced Cibola with a 13th-place finish and a time of 20:05. She was followed by teammates Michelle Soto (23), Kiana Diehl (34), Lety Gonzalez (42) and Chelsea Madsen (49).
