McEvoy named Offensive Player

For the fourth straight year, and Arizona Western football player has been named the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year.

Following in the line of running backs Reggie Bullock and Damien Williams, quarterback Tanner McEvoy earned the conference's top honor on Monday.

McEvoy was also one of nine Matadors on the ACCAC first team and seven on the Western States Football League first team. Running back DeSean Martin, wide receiver Markeith Ambles, offensive lineman Dionte Savage, defensive lineman Sam Wren, linebacker D'Vante Henry and defensive back Cassius Sendish were first team on both squads, while tight end Emmanuel Bibbs and defensive lineman Chris Cormier were first team all-ACCAC and second team WSFL.

McEvoy finished the season with 1,943 passing yards, completed 63 percent of his passes, and threw 25 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also ran for 414 yards and six touchdowns, the team's second leading rusher behind Martin.

Earning a spot on both second teams was center Akoakoa Paleka-Kennedy, offensive lineman Jaylen Hunter, defensive lineman Randy Gregory — who played just one game this season after a monster 2011 — linebacker Michael Carlisle and defensive back Nate Willis made the ACCAC second team.
