Aron N. Figueroa
Air Force Airman Aron N. Figueroa has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.
The airman completed an intensive eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.
Figueroa, the son of Eduardo and Lucila Figueroa of Somerton, is a 2007 graduate of Kofa High School.
Aaron Biever
Yuma High School sophomore Aaron Biever has been selected to attend the Math Science Honors Program at Arizona State University.
This summer program offers young scholars of academic potential and aptitude an opportunity to experience a college atmosphere and receive college math-science credits.
Biever is one of 12 selected from Yuma County from about 85 statewide.
Daniel J. Haworth
Army Pvt. Daniel J. Haworth has graduated from Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga. The training consists of basic infantry training and advanced individual training.
During the nine weeks of basic combat training, Haworth received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons employment, map reading, physical fitness, first aid skills and Army history, core values and traditions. The advanced individual training course is designed to train infantry soldiers to perform reconnaissance operations, employ, fire and recover anti-personnel and anti-tank mines.
Haworth, the son of Roxanne Espinoza of Yuma, is a 2007 graduate of Cibola High School.
James P. Badillo
Army Pfc. James P. Badillo has returned to Anchorage, Alaska, after being deployed to Afghanistan for one year. Badillo is one of 3,500 members of the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division stationed at Fort Richardson.
Soldiers improved roads, provided vocational training, improved and reopened 29 schools, remodeled six medical clinics and improved three district courthouses.
Badillo, a human resource specialist, is normally assigned to the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment. He is the son of James Badillo of Yuma and Kim Badillo of Anchorage.
